Today I picked up (among other things) my metal hole punch for the A5 Filofax from Opto. This is what it looks like:
At first glance it looks pretty much like the Filofax metal punch for A5, which costs 70,00 Euros on the German Filofax Website. Crazy! I was spending a lot of time looking for a cheaper alternative and I found it via Philofaxy on the Opto.se website. The A5 punch was 35,00 Euros (shipping included). And I have to say: Their service is amazing. I ordered the punch on Wednesday last week and on Friday I had the notification of its arrival in my postbox. Note: The punch was shipped from Sweden to Austria. The Austrian Postal Service takes a lot longer to deliver a simple letter within this country. I was seriously impressed. I already tried it out with my new tab dividers (I’ll show them to you once my calender inserts finally arrived) and it works perfectly. It punches about 5-7 sheets of paper – depending obviously on how thick the paper is. It’s nice and small and feels well-made and sturdy. I will for sure take it with me when I move to the U.S.
I also ordered the portable hole punch from the Filofax.co.uk website. I’ll use it for punching single sheets of paper while I’m on the go. Sometimes I’m a little bit of an over-organizer and I like to have everything where it belongs right away. This one (together with some colored paper, a world map and a zip envelope) hasn’t arrived yet. I expect the package tomorrow and I’ll let you guys know.
I hope I’ll have my final set up by the end of the week. I L O V E setting up a new calender. It’s like a fresh start. Everything is neat and on its place. I love it.
On a totally different note: You know that my A5 Domino isn’t real leather. And even though it’s brand new, I’m thinking of getting a real leather one and using one of them as my daily Filofax and the other one as storage for pages etc. Since so many people recommended the Malden, I’ve looked at it several times and I think I got a crush on the ochre one. What do you think of it?

Hi K,
Can you post a pic of this punch please? I bought an A5 filofax punch and am almost driven to depression as it cannot punch any more than 3 papers (100 or 120 gsm) at a time and then on top of it the leverage is so less that the papers occasionally are hurt..
I am looking at the vertical punch at opto.se but wanted to get an opinion based on how does this one look from the top…
Thanks and regards.
